In this article, we will explain the Shift visibility feature. Efficient shift management is crucial for maintaining a well-organized and productive workplace.

One powerful tool in Roosted’s arsenal is the Shift Visibility setting, which allows you to control how far in advance workers can see available shifts. This feature helps in balancing the workload and ensuring that shifts are filled based on workers' seniority and experience.

Key Shift Settings

  1. Hide All Shift Times from Workers:

    • You can choose to hide all shift times from workers, providing flexibility in how shift information is communicated. This setting can also be adjusted for each shift while editing an event, giving you control over what information is visible on a per-shift basis.

  2. Show Full Location on Available Shifts:

    • Ensure that workers have all the necessary information by showing the full location details on available shifts. This helps reduce confusion and ensures everyone knows where they need to be.

  3. Worker Self Sign-Up:

    • Active: Workers can directly sign up for open shifts or request shifts.

    • Inactive: Workers cannot directly sign up for or request shifts. Note that this setting does not affect the functionality of the Sign Up Bot, which can still assign shifts automatically.

  4. Manage Worker Visibility with Schedulehead:

    • Off: All workers can see all shifts.

    • On: Workers will have visibility based on a sliding scale, with senior workers seeing shifts further in advance compared to junior workers. This setting helps manage shift coverage based on experience and reliability.

  5. Customize Minimum Visibility:

    • Minimum Visibility: Set the minimum number of days in advance that the lowest-ranked and newest workers can see available shifts. This ensures that even the newest team members have some visibility, allowing them to plan their schedules accordingly.

Configuring Shift Visibility

To configure shift visibility in Roosted:

  1. Navigate to Settings: Go to Configuration and select Settings.

  2. Locate Shift Options: Within the settings, find the Shift Options section.

  3. Adjust Visibility: Use the sliding scale to set the visibility range for open shifts based on the seniority of your workers.

And this is how you manage your shift's visibility in Roosted!
